Book of Acts

“The Church Is Born”

Book Overview

The Book of Acts is one of the most important books in the Bible. Without it, we would have almost no understanding of how the early Church was born, how the Gospel spread, and how Christianity went from a small group in Jerusalem to a worldwide faith in just a few decades.

This is not a dry history book. Acts is a powerful demonstration of what happens when the Holy Spirit takes control of ordinary men and women. It shows us the birth of the Church, the power of true Pentecost, the cost of following Jesus, bold preaching in the face of persecution, the first martyrs, and the unstoppable advance of the Gospel.

We watch the radical conversion of Saul of Tarsus, the breaking of the Gospel into the Gentile world, and Paul’s missionary journeys filled with signs, wonders, opposition, and divine direction. We see shipwrecks, courtroom dramas, and the early Church learning to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit.

And in what some call Acts 29 (the so-called “lost chapter”), the Apostle Paul travels to Britain to visit the descendants of the 10 Lost Tribes of Israel, continuing the mission to bring the Gospel to the “lost sheep.”

From the Upper Room in Jerusalem to the isles afar off, the message is clear: The same Holy Spirit that empowered the early Church is still at work today.

Join us as we go chapter by chapter, verse by verse through the Book of Acts — the greatest adventure story ever told, and a powerful blueprint for the Church in these last days.

Acts 4 - Speaking Truth In Spite of Persecution
The Apostles are arrested and threatened by the religious leaders to speak no more about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Within this, we can see a type of way in which mainstream religious leaders often seek to silence the truth today.

Acts 5 - Don't Play Church!
At the end of chapter 4, the church was exploding in growth, and people were generously pooling their resources together for its advancement. Acts 17 - Paul Uses Reason & Intellectual Debate To Rescue The Lost
The Apostle Paul spreads the truth by means of conversation, i.e., discussing and debating the truth of God’s Word. Paul’s Trials & Steadfastness (Chapters 20–24)

Acts 20 - Paul The Apostle & Military General
A lot of people think of Paul as the great Apostle, which he was. But we can also look at him as a mighty military general commissioned by the Lord Jesus Christ to cast out and destroy the demonic powers who had long been in charge of the culture and kingdoms of this world with the mighty sword of truth he carried with him from country to country and city to city in the Roman Empire.

Acts 24 - Christians: Be Ready For False Accusations

Final Defense, Shipwreck & Beyond (Chapters 25–29)

Acts 25 - The Impartiality of the Roman Government vs. The Sanhedrin
Though the Romans were a pagan people, it is remarkable that their judicial system was more impartial in judgment than the Sanhedrin of the Jews, who were supposed to be representing God and His law. In this chapter, we get an example of this stark contrast.

Major Themes & Practical Applications

  • The Holy Spirit is not optional — He is the difference between a dead religion and a living, powerful Church. We must learn to wait for Him, follow His leading, and depend on His power daily.
  • Boldness is required — Just like the Apostles, we are called to speak truth even when it brings persecution, cancellation, or threats.
  • Persecution often spreads the Gospel — What man intends for evil, God uses to advance His Kingdom (Acts 8).
  • Don’t play church — Hypocrisy and half-hearted commitment are judged severely. God wants authenticity and wholehearted devotion.
  • Prioritize the Word — Ministry must flow out of time in prayer and the Scriptures, not just activity.
  • God still opens and closes doors — Learn to recognize the Holy Spirit’s redirection in your life instead of forcing your own plans.
  • The Gospel is inherently divisive — In a sinful world, truth will always separate people. We should expect it, not fear it.
  • Be ready for false accusations — As a Christian in these last days, you may be lied about and attacked. Prepare your heart now to respond like Paul and Jesus.
  • Faithfulness unto death — Our highest calling is to finish our race well, no matter the cost.
The Book of Acts is not just ancient history — it is a training manual for the Church in the end times.
