What is the Greatest Commandment?
Many people wonder, which one of the 10 Commandments is the greatest. And some teach
that they are all the same. But when asked by a certain Pharisee what the “Greatest
Commandment” was, Jesus said unto him:
Think about that.
Makes sense doesn’t it. And naturally if you follow this commandment by loving God with all
your heart, soul, and mind, you will want to follow all of His commandments. That is why this is
the first as well as the greatest commandment (Exodus 20:2-3).
You know many people seem to forget about this commandment. They get too busy with the
cares of this world and they kind of ignore their Heavenly Father. They don’t take the time to
study His Word, in order to learn more about Him, His emotions, His feelings, and His plan. And
they tend to think that, “Well, as long as I am a good person, I’ll make it to Heaven”.
But you see you can’t truly be a good person if you ignore the “One” who has given you life,
the air you breathe, the food you eat, and everything else. That would be kind of selfish wouldn’
t it? And most people I know don’t consider selfish people to be good people.
And notice Jesus didn’t say the Greatest Commandment was that you must belong to a certain
denomination or follow the traditions of some church system. He said that we are to love the
Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and mind. Meaning we should have a close personal
relationship with Him. And that comes by studying His Word, obeying His commandments, and
simply by talking to Him in prayer. Not just attending church once a week thinking that you are
just doing the right thing.
In fact this relationship was supposed to be so close between God and His people that they
were to keep His words in their heart and in their mind, always.
As it is written:
Now this doesn’t mean we should become “religious fanatics”, because that itself would be in
violation of the commandments. But when He sees you thinking about Him and talking about
Him, He hears you. And I am sure He looks down from Heaven with a beaming smile and great
happiness in His heart.
As it is written:
Amazing!
He’s not asking much from us beloved. Only that we return some of the love that He has shown
us. You know it’s easy to love a God who has given us so much, even to the point where He
Himself came in the flesh to suffer and to die for us so that we could be saved from the power
of death – that is to say, from Satan. So never forget this Great Commandment. It is the first
and most important for a reason, and it should be easy to remember.
Keep Him always in your heart and in your mind and be a Christian Overcomer!

teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine

risest up.” –Deuteronomy 6:7

- “Then they that feared (loved) the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD
hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for them
that feared (loved) the LORD, and that thought upon His name. And they shall be Mine
saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up My jewels; and I will spare them, as
a man spareth his own son that serveth him. –Malachi 3:16-17
Amazing!
