Christ--The Saviour
By Ben Heath

Christmas! What a wonderful time of the year when Christians all over the world celebrate the
birth of our Lord and Saviour--Jesus Christ.

Concerning the birth, some of the great scholars of the Bible document sufficiently that
December 25th was actually the conception of our Lord and that He was instead born during
the Feast of Tabernacles around September 29th. (E.W. Bullinger, The Companion Bible, Ap.
179). Nonetheless, we celebrate Christ coming to earth as a babe for His first advent to save
us from sin and the “power of evil.” As it is written:

And in the sixth month (December 25th) the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city
of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of
the house of David; and the virgins name was Mary…And the angel said unto her, “Fear
not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy
womb, and bring forth a Son, and shalt call His name JESUS.” –Luke 1:26-31

And:

That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us…That
He would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might
serve Him without fear.  –Luke 1:71-74

Beloved, even though we live in a troubled world and our enemies seem to wax stronger and
stronger each day, we are truly a free people! We are free because Christ makes us free and
our enemies can’t take that freedom away. It’s a freedom that gives us such an inner
happiness and contentment that is hard to explain. And we just know everything will work out in
the end. Oh, the powers of evil may be able to oppress us with unjust taxation, raise our
energy costs etc., but they can’t touch our souls as long as we put our faith and trust in the
Lord.

On the other hand, those without Christ are subject to the powers of evil. They are so chained
down by “deception” that they can hardly think a thought all on their own, without the prodding
of their masters. Because of this, deep down inside they are in misery and bondage. And they
have become such mere drones repeating the ideas and philosophies that the mainstream
media, the public education system, and the Hollywood elites want them to believe.

Yet if they so choose they can at anytime believe upon Jesus, study His Word and be free! The
same as Jesus freed the woman who was in spiritual bondage for eighteen years:

And behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years and was
bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, He called
her unto him, and said unto her, “Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.” And He
laid His hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.  –Luke
    13:11-13

You know, true freedom and the coming of Christ are even foretold of all the way back in the
book of Genesis. There it stated that Christ would be born of a woman and that the Serpent
would bruise His heal on the cross, but that He would crush the head of the Serpent (Genesis 3:
15).

And beloved Christ freed us from the bondage of sin by dying for us on the cross, but this
prophecy of Christ’s mission is not completely fulfilled yet. Jesus will come again, not as a babe
this time, but riding a white horse. And when He returns He will cast that old serpent called the
Devil and Satan, who deceived the whole world, into a bottomless pit where he can deceive the
nations no more (Relation 20:1-3). What a time that will be! Freedom will reign!

So when your celebrating the day when “the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us” (John
1:14), keep hope and faith in your heart that Christ our Saviour will come again and when He
does we will have another joyous celebration, and this time He will be here to stay.

Have a Merry Christmas and be without fear, because in Christ-The Saviour we have the
victory!

God Bless

fear."
